Research Interests

I have three main research interests. i) Analysis of the local public finance system in Japan. In particular I have been focusing the allocation effect of the local allocation tax(“CHIHOU KOUFU ZEI”) which plays a key role in the intergovernmental fiscal transfer system in Japan. ii) Analysis of the structural changes of the Japanese economy after World War II using macro-econometric models. A macro-econometric model is a useful analytical tool which describes the performance of the economy of a country (or a region). iii) Strategies for revitalizing the Kansai Economy in a prolonged stagnation phase. I aim to clarify the factors affecting the Kansai economy through mainly input-output analysis.
