Recent Research Interests
With a background in English literature and culture, my research interest lies in “life-writing,” such as auto/biographies, auto/biographical works, letters and diaries. Over the past 20 years, I have been interested in this genre, and I have attempted to interpret “life-writing” in the broader sense; therefore, portrait-paintings, photography, even architectural structures like old houses and libraries, have been my research targets as “life-writings.” I have also been studying Virginia Woolf, an English novelist, especially her quest to answer the eternal question “what is life?” and her representation of “life” in her writings. Furthermore, “museums” is one of my recent research topics, as a private collection of paintings can also be seen as its owner’s “life-writing.”
